Millika at the First Cross Country Meet of the Season

Millika is for the first time ever running Cross Country and she is on the Woods Cross High School team. This means that most of her team mates are 1-3 years older than her. Yes, she is the VERY youngest on the team this year.

That said she was chosen to run on the Varsity Team/Team A (Varsity really means Senior Year/ the best team) for this the first race. It was a race in a canyon about 1 hour away from home in Settlement Canyon/Tooele. Some of the race was on dirt road but a lot of it was on a trail where there was lots of rocks and some places water too!

Haley her friend was also running in this race but she was running for the Junior Varsity Team/Team B. On the teams are 8 runners so it is a team effort if they want to win.

As many of you know Millika is a fighter and of course she pushed herself in this race like always. She ran the 3 miles (4,8 KM) in 20 min 45 sec and she was number 4 to run over the finish line from her 8 girls team. There were about 50+ girls running on 5-6 teams and Millika placed 15 place over all as an individual runner, not too bad for her first race at the High School level.

Her team took 2nd place over all in the girls race which was great!! They were the only ones that placed not even the boys teams got a win:o) Awesome way to help your team Mille!
