Flaming Gorge and a LONG drive, May 30th, 2011

We went on a 440 miles (ca. 700 Kilometer) Drive from North Salt Lake to Flaming Gorge though Wyoming  and then back though Vernal and Heber City.  Lincoln really wanted to show my parents Flaming Gorge in East Utah. I had never been there before and Lincoln had not been there since he was a teenager. It was going to be a long drive and we need good weather!

But this is what we woke up to. Snow in the yard on May 30th! We could not believe our eyes!

But we did not worry! We started driving and this are some of the roads we drove on. It just kept going and going for miles on end but the roads were clear of snow!

In Wyoming we saw this. Hundreds of cows in huge fields, fun to see!

But then this happened! We were driving right into a snow storm!
And this is what we saw as part of Flaming Gorge!

Fun family picture!

Flaming Gorge

We drove on the road in this picture. It was so beautiful!

Flaming Gorge Dam.

It was a beautiful drive with temperatures from 32F (0 C) to 60F (17 C) in one day. We saw a lot of country and places we had never seen before. A wonderful day trip with Mormor and Morfar!

This is the Place Monument Park, May 28th ,2011

We went and saw "This is the Place Monument Park" with Mormor and Morfar. It is a park where there are old homes that look like the first ones in Utah when the Pioneers came.

This is the Smoot Hall. It is looking like it would have back in the day if you were going to College. A place of learning!

This is the Social Hall. Lincoln and Morfar gave a number for us :o)

Some of the animals at the park. Morfar had a hard time with how the horses were treated!

Here are "Ann's" pigs. I really wanted to take the little two colored Piggy with us home! But Lulu is enough pet for Lincoln. No more animals for us but they were super cute and charming and I was sold!

An old wagon from the time period!

This is part of the Monument from the park. Lincoln has ancestors on it :o)
It was a great time to see a little of the past and how they lived and learned!

Mika's LAST Madrigal Concert, May 23th, 2011

The day had come and Mika sang in her last Madrigal Concert tonight! She has spend the last 9 months together with these 30 other Youth learning, singing and performing so many, many times. They have practiced every day together in school and every Sunday they have met also to sing.

Here Mika is with the Madrigal Women! This song was fun and outgoing!

Here Mika is giving on the "Light" to next year's Madrigals. They have a lot to live up to and look forward to . A year of hard work, fun and lots of singing all over!

Here all the Madrigal's in the audience are singing with this year's Madrigal's a song. Mika will get to do that next year if she goes to the last concert:o)

A LOT of tears and many hearts were heavy as the last goodbyes was said. Mika held it together as long as she could but in the end she was done for. I think we all had a few tears in our eyes!

Mika and her great friend Makeli, they are both Soprano 1's.

Mika with both sets of Grandparents! What a treat!!!

It was a fantastic concert that brought a lot of feelings for us and Mika. I understand why it is hard for Mika to leave these wonderful friends and great choir but I also feel like she will be in choirs with new friends that are just as good in the future! Mika, we love you! Thanks for giving us such a cute daughter with so much talent!! You are the BEST oldest child:o)

Mika Graduates from Seminary

Mika has been taking 4 years of Religion classes in High School like most LDS kids do. She has loved it and has learned a lot about herself and our religion. Today it was time for her to graduate from Seminary and we went to a wonderful program at our Church.

Mika in one of her Sunday outfits. She is just beautiful! And she sang with a small group from Madrigals at the program and it was beautiful too.

Here is her certificate that shows she has graduated from Seminary. Way to go Mika!!

Mika with Grandpa and Grandma. She got The Book of Mormon that Grandpa helped write notes for in a graduation gift from them and she loved it! Mika thanks for being such a special girl and our daughter! YOU are AWESOME!!!

Who is the winner??

We had a BIG competition today in Ping Pong. Mormor and Morfar played against Millika and McKay and there were so hard matches.

McKay is having a blast. And he did not even win all the time! They just hard a fun time playing together!! Millika is watching and waiting for her turn!

Millika and Mormor playing!!

I am not sure who was the winner most times but I do know they all had a great time playing and that is really what matters most:o)!

A fun drive up Alta and Big Cottonwood Canyons, May 20th, 2011

My parents, Lincoln and I went on a fun drive up Alta and Big Cottonwood Canyons. We were hoping to see some beautiful nature and maybe some animals. Well let me tell you we saw that and so MUCH MORE.....

On the way up to the top of the Alta Canyon we saw this beautiful Water Fall.

And Morfar found a HUGE rock and was the winner of the day:o)

Or was he..... You will not believe what we saw next!! If we had not seen it with our own eyes we would not have believed it. But guess what we saw SNOW on May 20th....... Here is some proof!!

Morfar and Mormor at the top of Alta Canyon.

Okay so we saw some snow in the Alta Canyon and we thought that was fun but there was more to come for us. Look at what we found next!

We found a baby Moose. It was about 20 feet away from us and just look so cute! What a great thing to see up close and personal.

Then we saw this Bear Trap sign and we had to take a picture of that too. Crazy we were in bear country!

And then you are not going to believe this next picture! REMEMBER it is taken on MAY 20TH, 2011.

YEP... it is Lincoln in snow and look how DEEP it is. It was TALLER than him. It was unbelievable and we still can not believe it was real. But is was and we had a wonderful time together seeing these rare things of nature! We went from sun and spring to snow and winter like weather. What a great day!

Millika ran a 5K with the Young Women in our Stake!

The Young Women in our Stake (Area) was invited to run a 5K(3.2 miles) run for fun and over 100 girls showed up on Saturday May 21st, 2011 and of course Millika was one of those girls :o)

As you might know by now Millika LOVES to run so for her it was not a sacrifice to get up early on a Saturday morning and run with her friends!

There were many great prices! One for each age group and one for the leaders. I had Coop that morning so I could unfortunately not run even though I am a leader in the Young Women's program (too bad, NOT I am not a runner). I am not sure where Mille gets it from :o)

Well how do you think Millika did........

She took FIRST place in her age group (12-14) and she came in second of all the girls. Two of the Leaders came in very first and then a 15+ year old girl that are use to running track for years came in  before Millika. So Mille came in 2nd of all the 100+ girls!!

She ran the 5+ kilometers in 24 minutes and 52 seconds and it was not on flat roads, there very some good hills too :o) Millika won a $10 gift card and a ribbon. Way to go Mille. You are a true runner!

Mika's last Choir Concert with Concert Choir, May 16th, 2011

In this month there are a lot of lasts for Mika and she has had a hard time with that. We have had this sign in our year for the last school year and now it will be gone.

Mika's yard sign!

Tonight we went to her last concert with Concert Choir and for Mika it was with mixed feelings. She is one way ready to move on and learn new things but she just loves her friends and High School.

What a cute girl!! We for sure love her!

Mika is giving out gifts to the "heads" of Concert Choir. Great concert and a great year!

Mika here with her BEST friend Erica. They had a wonderful year together in Concert Choir. Now they will be going to different Schools and only see each other on the weekends!
