Most Valuable Female Track Athlete 2013

It was the Track Banquet for our team last night and it was fun to be there and honor so many great athletes and the best coaches ever. Our team had won the Region Championship and the boys had also taken State and that had not happened in 19 years. So all in all a wonderful 2013 track season for our team. Millika had made goals early in the season and worked hard to reach them all. A wonderful treat was that she ended her sophomore Track year with the award of the "Most Valuable Athlete" . Wonderful season and looking forward to Cross Country :o)

Most Valuable Female Track Athlete 2013. You get this award if you have earned the most points for the team in the season.

Mille's award! We were surprised and very happy for her!!

State Track meet with Millika running the 1600 meter!

So it is State track season again and it has been a wonderful year for Millika. She has broken the 3200 meter school record and gotten great progress on the 1600 and 800 meter.

She qualified in all 3 of her events for State and today she ran the 1600 meter race. Last week she got a great PR (Personal Record) with a 5 min 18 sec on that distance. She told us she would run under 5 min 20 sec at the Region meet and then under 5 min 15 sec at State. Both Lincoln and I thought "yea right" we want to see it before we believe it.

Well let's just say we SAW it today. She raced a 5 min 12 sec for the 1600 meter race today, unbelievable and so fun to watch :o) She took 12th out of the TOP 21 girls running the 1600 meter in the 4A schools.

Click to see it better but here are the times for all the girls!!

AND this is when she realized that she broke the school record for the 1600 meter too :o)

You just gotta love it baby!! What a race and what a wonderful girl ;o)

McKay at the National Mock-Trail Championship in Indiana

McKay went to the National Mock-Trail Championship last week in Indiana with the team from Woods Cross High School. They had worked so hard getting ready for this. There were 48 teams from most of the States and a few other countries.

Last year when McKay went they took 43th so they were hoping to do better this year when they knew what they were getting into :) The team took 23rd and did great!

They also gave out awards to the 10 Outstanding Witnesses and the 10 Outstanding Attorneys. Well McKay got one of 10 Outstanding Attorneys awards and was ranked the 5th best attorney in the nation from the High School teams. AND NO he does not want to be an attorney :o)

This was what he won. It is handmade in VERY HEAVY glass. AWESOME job Buddy you are in a class of your own!
