Murray Invitational 2013 with Millika :o)

Millika raced today in the Murray Invitational. She was running with the Varsity Girls group. Here are some of the 280 girls running. It was a FUN day and a GREAT race for her!!

 280 Varsity Girls and some of the BEST runners from MANY of the Utah High Schools.

 

 Daddy, Mille, Grandma and Grandpa. She does look a little tired.

 14th and ran the 5 KM in 18 min 30 Sec. She took 48 seconds off from her time last year in the same race.

Grass Relay at American Fork High School

This race is one of the MOST fun races to watch. It is a relay and each of the five runners will run 2 miles. Millika was the only one that was running in the Varsity group so she had no team mates running with her. She ran the 2 miles in 12 minutes 13 seconds and that is an improvement of 22 seconds from her time last year at the same race. She took 7th out of the 143 Varsity girls that ran. NOT bad at all.

Millika is 16 and there is nothing we can do to change that :o)

It is happening and Lincoln is not ready for it at all. Millika turned 16 last week. She went on her first date and got her license all in that same week, pretty neat right ? Well... this week she started school and with that comes school DANCES and MORE dates. So she came home yesterday from Cross Country practice and this is what was waiting for her. "She was asked to the Homecoming dance on September 21". 

 Sweet 16th party. We made the cake at the bakery and it was so GOOD. Chocolate with salted caramel butter cream, Millika's FAVORITE!!

 First day of school. She had to wear the spirit-school t-shirt because she is a Student Body Officer.

 Just home from Cross Country practice and what was waiting for her. 

 

 Lots of chocolate kisses all the way to her bathroom!!

AND she LOVES flowers how did he know? She is way excited to go.

So much fun and I am sure there will be MANY more times like this one. So sweet Lincoln HANG in there TOGETHER we can do this :o)

Chamber Artists Choir at the University of Utah

Guess who made it into the Chamber Artists Choir at the University of Utah, the BEST choir at the U of U Music School ... YEP Mika. This is the 3rd year in a row that she has made it in and she has LOVED every minute of it. This year each member of the choir get a $1000 scholarship every semester so $2000 for the school year. Not bad at all :o)

  Mika was REALLY happy when she found out she made it in the choir again this year!!

 We just love our beautiful sweet Mika and we love to go hear her sing. We would just like to hear a little more solo singing from her :o)

Congrats Mika. You have totally earned it and we are looking forward to another great year at the U of U Music school.

Drivers license and FIRST date.

YEP.... It is Millika, she is now officially 16 years old and she can drive and date. Not a good combo :o) Just kidding she is an AWESOME "kid" and we will all be mostly safe with her on the roads.

 

 Paper license but she can still drive :o). The "real" one comes in a few weeks in the mail. So YES she is really out there on the roads in Utah!!

AND she is NOW 16 and that means that she can start dating. She has counted the days till this event for MANY months :o) Here she is getting ready to go on her very FIRST date. It is with Garret, Mille, Julia and Chris. They will have an awesome time :o)

Lincoln is not liking it at all but it is just part of life and being a teenager. She is almost ALL grown up and a junior in High School. Two more years and she is off to college! WOW... life goes by so fast!!

First Race of the Cross Country Seaon 2013 with Millika!!

Cross Country has started and Millika has had a tough start on this year's season with a hip injury and physical therapy. She has been cross training with swimming, weights and elliptical but it is not the same as running. She was cleared to run about 3 weeks ago but was told to start slow. We were a little worried that she would not be ready for the first race which was today. She raced the 3 miles (4.8 KM) run in 18 min 33 sec and took 3rd in the 4A Varsity Girls group. The best was she took 35 sec off from her time last year in the same race.

 She has the first race under her belt and she is off running.

Great job today Mille. It will be a wonderful season!!

Holbrook Family fun times!

Just a few pictures of some great times we have had in the last 2 weeks. Well almost a whole family. McKay has now been gone for 2 1/2 weeks and he is all the way in Denmark. We do NOT know yet where he is but we should know that is a few days when he has his first p-day over there!

 Millika is cleaning the iPhone that McKay swam with for 1 hour. YES, he forgot it was in his pocket one week before Millika was going to get it since he was leaving for Denmark. Nice job brother :o)

Do we miss McKay?  YES....... We do but we are still having a great time as a family but it is a little more low key without him here :o)
