Mika in Choir U of U Singers Music class!

Well you know that the U of U Singers is an AMAZING Choir and they have to practice very hard to learn the difficult songs they sing. BUT....... this is from right before a class start or maybe in the beginning of class and it is VERY telling! :o)

Sam and Mika are playing on their iPhones. It might even be against each other. Mika LOVE a game called "Scrambled". It is a word game and she ROCKS at it. SO maybe she is beating Sam in the game in this very saying photo :o) You keep it up girl, you are AWESOME!!

State Championship in Mock-Trail Debate McKay with WXHS

Yesterday McKay and a team of 6 Senior and 1 Junior went to State Championship in Mock-Trail in  Debate for High Schools at the Salt Lake City Court House.

This Mock-Trails started out with 39 School from ALL over Utah and all had worked hard to be ready to compete! McKay was chosen out of many people to be on the WXHS team and only one other Junior was on the team and he was the Bailiff ( time keeper etc.)

McKay was one of the 4 Lawyers and he had the closing statement. It is trails before he has done very well. They had been 4 trails before and the 3 times he had been one of the attorneys, he has been names as the BEST of the night :o) So he was pumped and ready for the trail.

After 3 hours of Debating back and forth and many witness and so fort Our team was ready for the judgement. The team they were competing against was from West High School and they had won before and been State Champs. West also won the coin toss and got the side of the case they wanted which was Defense and that is what our team wanted too, it is the easier side to do. So our team had 3 days to make a great prosecution case to win State with. Could they do it ???
 
Well..... our team did GREAT!! They won the Championship and it was the FIRST time ever a school from the Davis School District has won. Way to go team YOU are TOTALLY awesome!!

Team that became STATE CHAMPS on March 27, 2012 in Mock-trail.

They are going compete in the 2012 National High School Mock Trial Championship May 3 - 6, 2012 Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Mckay took a BIG bear to Baylee to make her feel better :o)

Baylee, McKay's really cute "girlfriend" had not been to school and she had been sick ALL weekend. So he was a little worried about her. When he and I were at Costco together we saw this CUTE BIG bear! And what do you think we/ McKay did........

YEP.... He got her the bear!! I have to tell you it was BIG and HEAVY. I would think it is bigger than Baylee, but we shall see.........

So McKay called Baylee and asked if she was home so he could come over and give her a little "Get better soon gift". Millika went with him and here he is saying, "Wish me luck that she likes it". Even though she had already told him, anything that he gave her, she would like :o)


Walking into the "bear" cave. Baylee's Dad is VERY protective so every time McKay comes over to visit he gets "grilled" by her Dad ;o)

See her Dad is in it all and here is is making sure McKay is doing ALL the things in his life that matters most like reading his scriptures daily, brushing his teeth and cleaning his toe jam :o) He is a funny guy and VERY protective of Baylee which I think is AWESOME!!

Baylee LOVED the bear and she did get better almost on the spot of getting it:o).  Her Dad said this to McKay; " So you want her to think think of you when she snuggles the bear" Well, McKay was quick as always and said this: " Of course that would be great or when she gets mad at me, she can hit the bear with a few punches :o) He is a clever young man and Baylee is a sweet young girl for sure!!

Mika in Disneyland for Spring Break!

Mika had Spring Break a lot sooner than the 2 other "kids" in our family and this year she was going with some friends from College - the U of U to Disneyland. They drove down there and we gone for 4 day and she had a blast. Here are a few pictures from her trip!!

McKay asked Baylee to Senior Ball at WXHS

McKay had NEVER asked a girl to go to any dances with him so this was a FIRST. He has gone with Baylee before to the Christmas Dance, she asked him to go and they are great "friends", so of course he wanted to ask her to go with him.

We had made TONS of balloons with 3 little fishes on them all = the 3 wishes and on 5 of the balloons where McKay's name so she knew it was him that asked her to go to the dance!

She did say YES and do you see the little saying up in the TOP RIGHT corner? That is in Danish :o)

So McKay and Baylee are going to Senior Ball together with a group of other friends on April 14th , 2012. I know they are going to have a great time with LOTS of fun!!

Fundraising for WXHS Track team!

Millika had to Fund-raise for WXHS Track team! She had to get a total of $35 and then anything else would give her things. If she got more than $50 it will go to her fees for the Track season.

So what did Millika come up with, well she is clever and here is what she did.... 

She gave HUGS for $1 a piece. 

She got a $35 anonymous donation today first day and she raised a total of $50. She will be doing it for 2 more days and I am sure she will do great ;o) Way to go Millika you are totally AWESOME!!

McKay went to National Qualifier in PF to try and make it to Nationals.

McKay and Tuscan are like I said before VERY new debate partners and they are both new to PF = Public Forum this year. For this National Qualifier in PF every school took their VERY best teams. Woods Cross High School were allow to take 3 teams and McKay and Tuscan were one of those teams.

There were 13 schools about 40 PF teams of the BEST of the BEST. Of course they were all Varsity level and some had gone to Nationals before. It was a 2 day debate tournament and you had to debate 6 times and you could only loose 1 time because the 2nd time you would be out.

Well McKay and Tuscan lost their first round and they were a bit down because they knew they had to win the rest to make it to Nationals. So there were nerves going into 2nd round, but as some of you know McKay does VERY well with a situation like that. At the end of the first day they were 2-1, 2 wins and 1 loss. They were the ONLY team from WXHS that went on to the next day.

On the second day they won their first round and got a by to go on to the Semi Finals. This was amazing they got this far begin so new and all. And in the Semi Finals they met a team that went to Nationals last year and are ranked 39 th in the Nation. What do you think happened? ......... McKay and Tuscan bet them and got in the Finals.

There were 3 Finals because 3 teams can go on to Nationals. And guess what..........? McKay and Tuscan WON!!!! They are one of those 3 teams that are going to debate in The US National High School Debate Tournament in Indianapolis in Indiana on June 10-15, 2012. It is a 5 day tournament and they give away $200,000 in Scholarships. Harvard and Standford Universities will be there and it is the place to go if you want to go anywhere in debate. AND McKay made it as a Junior, unbelievable and so fun!

It says 3rd place but they really took 1st. It were a 3 way tie for the 3 teams that are going on to nationals. But because McKay and Tuscan had 1 loss they got the plaque that said 3rd place.

 

The US National High School Debate Tournament Indianapolis in Indiana.

I am still in chock that they made it. I will be going to Indiana in June now with McKay :o) It is the first time EVER that Woods Cross High School has a PF team go to Nationals in the 20+ years Mrs. Gregg have been teaching Debate at the school. She was so proud of McKay and Tuscan that she shed a little tear. 

Congrats McKay, you are totally cool and very smart! And I think law school is a great choice you have made.
